Projects in the World Heritage region Hedeby and the Danevirke

The Hedeby and Danevirke Association is responsible for and supports the following activities and projects:

• • Regional conferences on the World Heritage region Hedeby and the Danevirke
• • Cycling and hiking routes along the World Heritage Site (sponsored with the regional budget of the AktivRegion Schlei-Ostsee)
• Networking meetings “Municipalities in dialogue”
• Seminars on the World Heritage Site Hedeby and the Danevirke
• Maintenance measures along the monument
• Website www.haithabu-danewerk.de
• Membership in the German UNESCO World Heritage Sites Association
• World Heritage marketing 2021 and 2022 (funded by the Nospa cultural foundation)

Under the responsibility of individual stakeholders, a great number of projects and measures are again implemented in 2021 in the World Heritage region Hedeby and the Danevirke. Some examples are provided below:

• Open space concept municipality of Dannewerk
• Land consolidation Danevirke
• Implementation of the education concept Hedeby and the Danevirke
• Training of World Heritage Scouts
• World Heritage exhibitions in the museums
• World Heritage signage at the monument
• World Heritage monitoring
• Reconstruction and restoration of Valdemar’s Wall
