Oak Coppice with Standards

An oak coppice with standards combines the management practices of coppice and timber forest. Hence, in the forests in the Danevirke region, old growing timber trees and aspects of coppice can both be found. Trees which can be used for timber production were not cut in the regular cycle of the coppice management. The oak coppice with standards have originated from the oak coppice forests. In addition to the common oak, other trees that could survive the coppicing process, such as hazel, common hornbeam and elm, also occur.
